ANTIQUE blouse of very light batiste and lace, entirely hand-embroidered. Tailoring work corresponding to a size 42. Some internal seams have deteriorated over time and need to be finished (see photo). Available to carry out the work upon request of a potential buyer, as this is an intervention on an antique garment. "Batista: Its name derives from that of the weaver Baptiste Cambray, originally from the village of Cantaing-sur-Escaut near Cambrai, who at the beginning of the 13th century developed a weaving process that allowed him to obtain linen fabrics very fine|2]. In the Cambresis region, now French but which then belonged to the Holy Roman Empire, a flourishing artisan industry developed which produced this canvas employing thousands of workers. The success of the Cambrai canvas crossed borders and began the export to: France, Spain, Italy, England, the Netherlands. With the arrival of cotton, the advent of new fashion fabrics and mechanization, production began to decline towards the end of the 19th century.

"Batista: Il suo nome deriva da quello del tessitore Baptiste Cambray, originario del villaggio di Cantaing-sur-Escaut nei pressi di Cambrai, che all'inizio del XIII secolo avrebbe messo a punto un procedimento di tessitura che permetteva di ottenere tessuti di lino molto fini|2]. Nella regione del Cambresis, oggi francese ma che allora apparteneva al Sacro Romano Impero, si sviluppò una fiorente industria artigianale che produceva questa tela impiegando migliaia di addetti. Il successo della tela di Cambrai superò le frontiere e incominciò l'esportazione verso: Francia, Spagna, Italia, Inghilterra, Paesi Bassi. Con l'arrivo del cotone, l'avvento di nuovi tessuti di moda e la meccanizzazione la produzione cominciò a calare;
